Multi-Criteria Simulation-Optimization Analysis of Usage of Automated Parcel Lockers: A Practical Approach

The rapid growth of electronic commerce is having an impact on the way urban logistics are organized. In metropolitan settings, last-mile delivery problem, i.e., problem regarding final stage delivering a shipment to consumer, major concern due its inefficiency. development convenient automated parcel lockers (APLs) network improves distribution by reducing number vehicles, distances driven, and stops. Using lockers, issue could be overcome for environment’s benefit. This study aimed define validate APL containing hundreds APLs with use example made up real case data from city Pozna? in Poland. goal this research was mathematical programming optimization simulation tackle facility location through practical approach. Multi-criteria simulation-optimization analysis used assess data. fact, carried out using Anylogic software Java language CPLEX solver. Three years were simulated, allowing comparable results each year terms expenses, e-shoppers, users, demand evolution, as well achieving city’s optimal locker usage.
